Cafe bars that want to get consumers using their
espresso machines could find it a good idea to promote cappuccino
more heavily.
The British Coffee Association (BCA) believes that this Italian
drink is a particularly versatile option, as it doesn't matter when
a person consumes it.
Indeed, the organisation said it thinks cappuccino is "great to
drink at breakfast or [at] any time of day".
As a result, it could be an appealing option for people who are
nipping in for a hot drink before their day at work, as well as
those who are coming to enjoy a quiet afternoon out with their
friends.
Cafe bars may therefore find it worthwhile to advise customers
that a cappuccino can be the perfect option at any hour, as well as
to make sure it is constantly available from their commercial coffee
machines throughout the day.
The BCA described cappuccino as a "classic recipe" that is
similar to a neat espresso in terms of its actual coffee
flavour.
However, it noted that the key difference comes from the
addition of frothy milk, as it softens the taste.
Milk accounts for about one-third of a cappuccino, the BCA said,
while foam and coffee also account for a similar proportion
each.
The BCA added that the Italian drink works particularly well
when it is sprinkled with ground cinnamon or chocolate
powder.
Of course, the time a person has a cappuccino is a matter for
each individual customer who arrives in a cafe bar.
But it is probably true to say that this type of coffee is
widely seen by many as an accompaniment to a continental
breakfast.
So by encouraging them to try it at a different time of the day,
a coffee outlet might end up attracting new customers and driving
up their revenues.
