Many of the people who use commercial coffee
machines at cafe bars are also buying something to eat at the
same time, a new study has found.
According to research by Allegra Strategies, 69 per cent of
those who visit coffee shops on a regular basis order some food as
well.
While this is down slightly on the 71 per cent recorded a year ago,
this indicates that most British consumers remain keen to eat and
drink outside of the home, even amid the country's current economic
troubles.
As a result, Allegra Strategies is confident the coffee shop
industry in the UK will continue to thrive over the next few
years.
Indeed, estimates suggest that expansion in the sector
will keep exceeding any growth in retail sales.
This comes after the standard of Britain's coffee was hailed by
Australian chef Bill Granger, who told thewest.com.au that it has
improved immensely throughout the last decade.
