Coffee 'is good for your health'

Employees who want to look after themselves at work might benefit from using the office coffee machine.

According to Professor Michel Lucas, a nutrition specialist at the Harvard School of Public Health, the notion that drinking coffee is "bad for your health" is not true, the Kansan reports.

Indeed, he insisted that it is actually "more of a benefit", since it can help stave off conditions such as depression.

However, Professor Lucas suggested that these advantages are only offered by coffee that contains enough caffeine.

As a result, decaffeinated drinks may not be the best option for those who want to experience the complementary benefits of coffee consumption.

Professor Lucas added that it would be "interesting" to carry out further tests to find out if there is a strong relationship between health and drinking the hot beverage.

This comes after research by Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital found that drinking a minimum of three cups of coffee a day can cut the risk of developing basal cell carcinoma.
