Having good coffee machines in workplaces could
have a beneficial effect on staff morale, new research has
found.
According to a survey commissioned by office developers Goodman,
40 per cent of employees stated that a good cup of coffee is
important to their overall happiness, the Guardian reports.
The most important factor in keeping workplace morale high is
properly functioning technology, which was cited by 83 per cent of
respondents.
Graham Snowdon, from the Guardian, noted that staff at the
newspaper have two options when it comes to coffee - a machine
which costs them nothing and that served in the canteen, which is
reasonably priced.
He stated that the more "financially minded" members of the team
enjoy the coffee from the machine.
According to a recent poll by accountancy firm Crunch,
many freelance workers view a cup of coffee as an essential part of
their day and could not cope without it.
