Pregnant women can drink coffee without harming
their baby, according to an expert.
Pregnant women who want to grab a drink from
the coffee machine at work have been
assured that this will not harm their child.
Chris Kilham, the founder of Medicine Hunter, stated that moderate
coffee drinking does not increase the chances of suffering a
miscarriage, Fox News reports.
Furthermore, he stressed that no studies have
identified a link between the hot beverage and a greater chance of
a baby experiencing birth defects.
Mr Kilham added that there is also "no known association" between
drinking coffee in moderation and delayed foetal growth.
Pregnant women have also been handed assurances on the drink's
safety this week from the British Coffee Association.
Dr Euan Paul, executive director of the group,
nevertheless encouraged expectant mothers to consume coffee in
moderation.
Indeed, he noted that the NHS recommends
pregnant women limit their intake of the hot drink to about two or
three cups a day.
