Companies in the hospitality trade could get more
people using their commercial coffee
machines by flagging up the advantages of consuming the hot
beverage.
According to physician Dr Zorba Paster, writing in the Wall
Street Journal, coffee has "lots of beneficial properties".
For instance, he said it can wake people up in the morning,
clear a person's mind and potentially stave off mental disorders
such as depression.
Indeed, Dr Paster noted that a recent study published in the
Archives of Internal Medicine demonstrated this to be the case.
"If you're at risk for depression - family history for example -
you might just take up the habit," he commented.
Dr Paster added that coffee can also make a person feel more
energetic and vigorous, as well as improve their concentration.
He said this is one reason why caffeine - a key ingredient of
the hot drink - has become the "most frequently used brain
stimulant worldwide".
This comes after research by Quaker, published in Female
First, revealed that many people believe coffee is the ideal tonic
to help them deal with cold winter mornings.
