A cup of coffee could make people less susceptible
to breast cancer, a new study has revealed.
Female workers who regularly use office coffee machines could be helping
themselves avoid developing breast cancer.
According to studies carried out at Sweden's Karolinska Institute,
published in Breast Cancer Research journal, the drink may help
women avoid getting some strains of the disease.
Specifically, figures showed that a person's
chances of developing oestregen-receptor negative breast cancer
were cut by more than half if they drunk at least five cups of
coffee each day.
The study was based on tests involving 6,000 females, although
scientists stressed its conclusions do not necessarily mean there
is a direct causal impact of coffee on cancerous tumours.
Nevertheless, this is the latest piece of
research which suggests drinking coffee can be good for a person's
health.
Recently, a team at the Harvard School of Public Health discovered
that drinking two or three cups of coffee a day can cut a woman's
chances of developing depression by 15 per cent.
