Investing in a sustainable coffee machine could be a good way to keep
employees engaged at work.
According to the Chartered Institute of
Personnel and Development (CIPD), businesses need to focus on
keeping "energy levels up" among the workforce.
Dianah Worman, diversity adviser at the group,
stated that engaging employees is the "best way" to ensure a firm
is able to be successful.
Employers may therefore wish to invest in
resources that improve the working environment, such as an office
coffee machine.
"You can't take your eye off the ball because we are in an economic
crisis," Ms Worman commented.
Indeed, she stressed that employers probably
have to place an even bigger focus on employee engagement during a
downturn than they would during better times.
Ms Worman was speaking after a survey by CIPD
and Simplyhealth showed concerns over job security are leading to
many cases of work-related stress across the UK.
