Coffee machines can be
used to make tasty beverages that can be served as dessert, an
expert has noted.
Dietician Mary-Jo Sawyer, writing for the
Richmond Times-Dispatch, explained some people are put off ordering
a drink like a caramel macchiato because of the calorie count.
However, she said thinking of such beverages
as treats and having them in place of dessert instead of as an
accompaniment can be beneficial.
The expert suggested using a coffee machine to
make healthy drinks, as no-added-sugar cocoa and low-fat ice cream
topping can be included to create a flavoured coffee.
Last month, a study conducted at the Harvard
School of Public Health indicated that caffeinated coffee may have
health benefits beyond those already identified.
Researchers found women who drink two or three
cups of the beverage every day are 15 per cent less likely to
suffer from depression than those who have only one.
