More and more coffee looks set to be grown in
India this year, according to new estimates.
People who use office coffee machines around
the world could soon have more Indian beverages to choose from.
According to the International Coffee Organisation (ICO),
approximately 5.4 million bags of coffee are expected to be
produced in the country during the new coffee year, PTI
reports.
This is seven per cent up on the amount
recorded in the previous 12-month period.
However, India could face strong competition
from other coffee-producing nations over the coming year.
Indeed, statistics from the ICO show that 4.7
million bags are expected to be produced in Mexico, while Indonesia
could roll out 6.7 million bags.
Output is also tipped to reach 20 million bags
in Vietnam and 43.15 million in Brazil.
This comes after the Standard reported that the Coffee Research
Foundation is expecting a surge in coffee production in Kenya in
the next few months, thanks to the fact good annual rains have
helped the soil to thrive.
