Employers have been encouraged to reward members
of staff.
Companies might want to invest in a
coffee machine or other optional extras
after an expert encouraged them to reward their staff.
According to Dame Carol Black, author of the report Working for a
Healthier Tomorrow, work is a "key determinant" of a person's
self-worth, the Guardian reports.
Furthermore, she noted that people's occupations can also influence
their social standing, family esteem and overall perception of
themselves.
However, Dame Carol insisted that employers
need to strike a balance between stretching their workforce and
placing them under excessive amounts of stress.
This, she said, could be achieved by making
sure members of staff are rewarded for their day-to-day
efforts.
The advice came after Gill Phipps of
Simplyhealth insisted that employee health and wellbeing should
remain a priority for businesses, even at a time when many are
trying to save money.
"Benefits that engage employees do not have to be expensive," she
insisted.
