Ugandan coffee is being shipped across the world
in growing quantities, according to new figures.
People who use the coffee machine at work could be set to see more
and more products sourced in Uganda.
According to the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA), the
country enjoyed a good crop between April and September 2011.
Speaking to Reuters, a spokesman for the body said this was
because it received "sufficient rains" that enabled the coffee to
mature.
The UCDA official also noted that many farmers and exporters in
Uganda are "clearing their warehouses of old stocks to create room
for a new crop".
This, he stated, goes some way towards explaining why coffee
exports rose from 169,728 bags in September 2010 to more than
340,000 bags last month.
Coffee drinkers around the world could therefore be set to see
more and more brands making use of materials grown in
Uganda.
This could help to offset a slight drop in green coffee exports in
Brazil over the last month, which has been disclosed by the Council
of Coffee Exporters, Agra-Net reports.
