People who go to major café bar chains that offer
commercial
coffee machine facilities can get far more than a brew if they
wish. In fact, many coffee shops are practically fully-fledged
restaurants, with a wide selection of food
Of course, this is partly because the biggest names in the
industry have the resources that enable them to diversify. However,
smaller names shouldn't necessarily roll over and accept defeat if
they wish to drag people away from the more famous brands.
So if they are looking at expanding into food, what should they
provide? Lots of delicacies can sit comfortably alongside a cup of
coffee and it can be hard to know where to start.
Perhaps it could be a good idea to look towards the big names
and see which of the options they serve are proving especially
popular with consumers. Smaller ventures might not be able to
emulate their larger rivals completely, but serving foods known to
be appealing to coffee drinkers is surely a good place to
start.
It's hard to go wrong with options such as wraps, sandwiches,
paninis and toasties. These aren't particularly heavy meals but
certainly fill a hole, while the ingredients are affordable and
easy to prepare. A coffee shop that can provide the basics is
surely better than one that tries to be extravagant and
fails.
Just about any ingredient can go in these, from bacon, lettuce
and tomato to chicken tikka chunks with mayo, so they can appeal to
a wide range of people.
Of course, many enjoy something a bit sweeter with their brew,
such as cake. Provide a selection of buns and pastries and
customers will be tempted to indulge themselves.
And with a few healthy options such as fruit on the menu too,
you'll find the basics are all covered and you can offer something
just as good, if not better, than the big brands.
