The Ethical Tea Partnership works to monitor
living and working conditions on tea estates, with the aim of
making sure that the tea you buy from the members of the
Partnership has been produced in a socially responsible way.
The 21 members of the Ethical Tea Partnership range from large
multinationals to smaller privately owned companies. Over 60
brands, which are packed and blended by the members, are in this
initiative.
Ethical Tea Partnership brands are those that are entirely packed
and blended by members of the Ethical Tea Partnership. However
brands that are made up tea from members and non-members are not
classifies as Ethical Tea Partnership brands.
The Ethical Tea Partnership use independent monitors to check that
tea estates comply with local laws and union agreements and some
international standards. The monitors look at employment,
education, maternity, housing, health and safety and the basic
human rights of the tea growing estate workers and their
families.
